Jennifer and Callum's Real Wedding at Boclair House

Have a read at what Jennifer had to say about her stunning Enzoani Gown and all about her big day at Boclair House.

How did you hear about Opus Couture?

I knew I wanted an Enzoani dress so when I was doing my research, I learned Opus are the Premier stockist in Scotland for the brand so they were my first (and last!) stop when I went dress shopping.

How was your Opus Experience?

Flawless! Every time I visited the store, the girls were all so welcoming and made me feel special. Even after the first lockdown and I couldn’t fit into my dress, the girls reassured me – even through the tears! It was like being amongst friends.

Let’s start from the beginning - how did your partner propose?

We are both secondary school teachers and met in work. We shared my classroom one day a week and I always found an excuse to come into the room when he was teaching. A few drinks later on a staff night out and the rest is history! He proposed two years later on a bridge in Amsterdam. As much as I wanted him to propose I didn’t expect it because we just bought a house a short time before, but that just made it more of a surprise!

Next up – THE WEDDING DRESS

I found my dress on Instagram. It was on one of the beautiful Enzoani models and from that point I was on a mission to try on THAT dress or I would never be able to say yes to any other gown. Who would have believed the dress I specifically went to Opus to try on, on my first wedding dress appointment, is THE dress I wore down the aisle? My dress was the Odette gown. I still love the show-stopper train as well as the 3D flower detail on the straps, the head-to-toe detailing, the hidden sparkle… I love my dress as much as I love my new husband!

Now for the big day - Did you have an inspiration, theme, colour palette etc?

I knew I wanted a timeless, elegant look for the day. I wanted to avoid looking back on our day when our future son or daughter gets married and cringe over our choices. So, we went for neutral tones with pops of gold and pastel grey as a contrast. Lots of our guests commented on how glamorous and elegant the bridesmaids, groomsmen and décor looked.

We would love to hear a little more about your wedding day…

I hate clichés, but it is very true what they say – the day goes by so quickly! Apart from actually saying my vows, I can’t think of one significant highlight as the day blended together into one. However, since the wedding, people have said that I was one of the happiest brides they had seen as I laughed and smiled the entire day. That’s what I remember most about the day – an overwhelming feeling of happiness and contentment.

Do you have any advice for our future Opus Brides?

Have a bit of humility. Things will not go as planned. My shoe fell off halfway down the aisle (luckily, a lifetime of wearing heels helped me cover it up!) I made a mistake in my vows, my veil got caught under a car tyre, a guest ripped off my veil when he was trying to help us take a dramatic veil photograph and an almighty downpour happened when we were taking photos outside. However, if you run with it and laugh through it all, nobody will be looking at what ‘went wrong’ they will only be looking at you (and your new husband, I suppose!)
